Welcome to The Places Jo Goes

I guess you could call me a digital nomad or another millennial girl who left her 9-5 to chase her dreams and travel the world. But is there really anything wrong with that?!

The travel bug hit me years ago and I have been determined to make a life of a full-time travel for as long as I can remember. My two greatest passions? Travel and People. There is really nothing like stepping off a plane into an unknown destination for the first time. I love sharing stories, exchanging cultures and inspiring others to create the life of their dreams.

I currently live out of my backpack and am a free spirited Midwest girl through and through. I don’t always have a plan on where I’ll end up next in the world, but I have a vision of my life.

Some of my greatest joys are yoga, diving, and writing. Here I will share with you everything from my travel advice, stories and inspiration to my personal thoughts and daily life! It’s all about The Places Jo Goes.. get. it?!

I hope The Places Jo Goes will teach you something new and inspire you to live true to who you are!

Travel Blogger Workaway Experience

There is no denying I am a lover of travel. The past four years have been filled with numerous different journeys around the world.

Unsure of the direction I wanted to go when I graduated from college four years ago, I knew one thing to be true- I wanted to travel the world.

After graduation, I left my Okie home with a one way ticket to Europe.

I moved in with a Spanish family that live on the coast of the Mediterranean and worked as their Au Pair for a year, and we now claim each other as our own. After quickly becoming obsessed with tapas, vino, and all of the things that accompany moving abroad for a year, I knew this was only the beginning.

After working for some time back at home, it was time for another one way ticket.

This time: Southeast Asia and India. Over half a year with absolutely no plans, a backpack, and me, myself, and I.

After 28 countries under my belt, numerous experiences, and lots of lessons learned; The Places Jo Goes was finally established. The truth is, I’ve always wanted to start a blog about my travels and my life. But, timing is everything, and now The Places Jo Goes has become a passion.

My hope is that I am able to inspire others through my experiences; by being open and proving that no matter who you are or where you’re from, you really can live the life you imagine. Because if you haven’t heard it before, I’ll tell you now: It’s not where you’ve been, but where you’re going.

There’s a little saying by Dr. Suess in his book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!”, in which he writes, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…”.

I believe the places we go are where we learn, grow, and create. Where we’re inspired. Where we discover joy and strength. And ultimately, where we find meaning in the story of our lives.
